Rich Foley
Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Rich Foley is Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Cengage Learning and a member of the Cengage Learning Executive Committee. In this role, Mr. Foley oversees all sales and marketing efforts for the global academic, library and professional markets.
Previously, Mr. Foley served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Cengage Learning's Academic and Professional Group. Prior to that, Mr. Foley was the Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service for Gale, part of Cengage Learning. While at Gale, he was responsible for a newly established business unit that included marketing, sales, business development and publishing for the academic and public library markets. Mr. Foley joined Gale in 2002 from Thomson Learning Custom Publishing. Serving as General Manager, he led the company to become the most profitable custom publishing operation in the higher education market. Mr. Foley also served in a temporary capacity as Senior Vice President of Sales for the integration of Thomson Learning's NETg and Wave acquisitions.
Prior to Thomson Learning Custom Publishing, Mr. Foley was Director of Sales, Central Division, for Thomson Learning's Group Sales Force, based in Cincinnati, OH. The position expanded upon his success as Regional Sales Manager for South-Western, a textbook publisher and business unit of Thomson Learning (now Cengage Learning). He began his career in publishing with Macmillan's college division, holding a variety of sales and marketing positions over the course of seven years.
Mr. Foley holds bachelor's degrees in both History and Economics from the University of Michigan.
